The ASMR Daily 103

Every Rose Has It's Thorn

Flowers are weird, aren’t they? First of all, they are organic life forms, which makes them unique in a commonly overlooked way. Second, they are pretty, and the older I get the more I appreciate that flowers stay pretty. Low key, I appreciate the fact that I mostly get to watch flowers live, and I appreciate that I don’t get too sad when they die. Dogs are also organic lifeforms, but they make me feel some type of way when they die. Understood?

Roses are, apart from being beautiful, a badass flower. They have their own defense mechanism. Other than the Venus Fly Trap, what kind of flower puts up a fight? I can’t think of a one [a cpl vines tho]. Roses must also be a smart flower! What animal do those thorns protect against better than a human? Yet, with evolution taking tens of thousands of years, that means the Rose knew, way ahead of time, that humans were going to be it’s biggest threat.

Little did the Rose know – humans love pain.

Alcoholism is pain. For those who are deep in the rut, they are, among other things, in pain. Personally I was in that rut for well over 7 years, but ASMR helped to pull me out. I shouldn’t say it so bluntly as that, because the truth is I listened to ASMR for the whole time I was drinking, and so obviously it didn’t prevent my addiction from happening. However! The important thing is this: When I became ready to leave my alcoholism behind, ASMR was still there for me. I enjoyed it how I always enjoyed it, but when I became purpose driven, this tool that I had previously only used for sleep and relaxation was now used as a tool to fight alcoholism.

You can use a can opener to open a can, or you can use it to hammer a nail, it just depends on how important it is secure that nail! However when you use ASMR to overcome alcoholism and addiction, you don’t ruin your can opener.

Everyday Sobriety Advice

I am a recovered alcoholic/drug addict, but I am not a qualified addiction counselor. To help other alcoholics/addicts achieve sobriety, I have created the mantra’s below. Although I call them “steps,” I believe that all four mantra’s should be recited in concurrence.

When the urge to drink alcohol or use drugs comes upon you, I suggest reciting these four steps, and then implementing an activity to “kill time” until your urge to use drugs/alcohol is less intense. I suggest you use ASMR videos to “kill time”

Good luck, My Friend

Below are the steps of admittance required for using The ASMR.Community Sobriety Program [ACSP] successfully.

Step 1: “Sobriety is a choice, and it is up to me to make the right choice.”

Step 2: “Not everybody will be able to achieve sobriety, but that knowledge does not prevent my success regarding sobriety.”

Step 3: “The urge to imbibe (substances that I know will prevent my success) is finite. Sometimes the urge will exist, sometimes the urge will not exist.”

Step 4: “Sobriety is not the same for everyone. Success is.”

I believe the steps I listed above are a complete, non-exclusionary list of all mental admissions needed to achieve your goals regarding sobriety.

Everybody’s definition of sobriety is different, but everybody’s definition of success is the same.

If you are looking or more information about ASMR, I’ve found the best place to learn about the subject is ASMR University. Their information is accurate [to the best of my knowledge], and plentiful. I mostly work with the application of ASMR, but there is a whole lot more to ASMR than using it to gain sobriety or fall asleep, including the history and the science of it.
