The ASMR Daily 123
Stealing Alcoholism From Yourself
Haha. I literally haven’t heard this guys voice in years! I wasn’t expecting to wake up this morning and hear this voice, but, well, sometimes the ASMR life can take you in crazy directions! You see, I don’t play a lot video games, but I have played a few. It’s not that I don’t find them fun, it’s more that I don’t find them profitable. You may think lowly of me for saying such a thing, but remember, I write these blog posts to help alcoholics and addicts in recovery, and personally I believe that opening a business can be an amazing tool in one’s recovery toolbox. Obviously you wouldn’t want to open a business while you are still drinking/using, or directly after you stop, because a relapse would cost you more than your health at that point! However, I’ve known a lot of addicts that, one or two years into their sobriety still haven’t found a ‘reason to live,’ as it were. I believe individuals that pour themselves into a business have a strong chance of maintaining their sobriety. Keep yourself busy? Make a little money? What could go wrong with that?
For individuals that think “I’ll just stay sober until my business makes me rich, and then I’ll go back to doing what I love,” you’re gonna have a bad time. Hot dog when you shoulda pizza’d and you’ll end up like Sonny Bono. Albeit, the man was also a senator; did you know that?
Today! We are going to follow theASMRnerd as he plays through a level on one of my all time favorite games: Theif. Personally I’ve only played Theif 2, and I don’t think that’s the one he’s playing, but I paused the video to write this bit here, and now I am going to play the video again. Let’s see if I recognize the level. What I’m looking for, is to see if the version he’s playing is some kind of conglomerate containing more than one Thief game.
So far it look exactly like the game I am used to playing…but it totally isn’t! It was released before Thief 2: The Metal Age. For the purposes of sobriety however, it doesn’t really matter which Thief game he is playing. Thief 1, Thief 2…the important thing is that theASMRnerd has created an hour and eleven minute long video for your listening and viewing pleasure. What I see this as, is an hour-long opportunity for you to fight alcoholism and addiction. When it comes to sobriety, I believe the end justifies the means. So if you’re not having fun, or think watching videos to maintain sobriety is ‘stupid,’ I encourage you to trust the process.
For my end, I knew I wasn’t going to give up cannabis. In fact, the only way I can say it is this: I can’t stop smoking cannabis to the point which I have stopped trying, and I think I am a better person for it. There are, of course, recovered addicts that can’t smoke cannabis because it will lead them back to their drug of choice, but that just isn’t an option for me. I wish I could describe my method of sobriety in a better way than “suck it up,” but there are still days where I tell myself that. It’s like going to work everyday: Someday’s you don’t want to go, but you still go, right? Even if you have a deep desire to avoid your job on one particular day, you still go to work, don’t you? Well, I believe that avoiding alcohol can get to the point where it feels like going to work. Someday’s it’s a struggle, but at the end of the week you will be happy you went.

Everyday Sobriety Advice
I am a recovered alcoholic/drug addict, but I am not a qualified addiction counselor. To help other alcoholics/addicts achieve sobriety, I have created the mantra’s below. Although I call them “steps,” I believe that all four mantra’s should be recited in concurrence.
When the urge to drink alcohol or use drugs comes upon you, I suggest reciting these four steps, and then implementing an activity to “kill time” until your urge to use drugs/alcohol is less intense. I suggest you use ASMR videos to “kill time”
Good luck, My Friend
Below are the steps of admittance required for using The ASMR.Community Sobriety Program [ACSP] successfully.
Step 1: “Sobriety is a choice, and it is up to me to make the right choice.”
Step 2: “Not everybody will be able to achieve sobriety, but that knowledge does not prevent my success regarding sobriety.”
Step 3: “The urge to imbibe (substances that I know will prevent my success) is finite. Sometimes the urge will exist, sometimes the urge will not exist.”
Step 4: “Sobriety is not the same for everyone. Success is.”
I believe the steps I listed above are a complete, non-exclusionary list of all mental admissions needed to achieve your goals regarding sobriety.
Everybody’s definition of sobriety is different, but everybody’s definition of success is the same.

If you are looking or more information about ASMR, I’ve found the best place to learn about the subject is ASMR University. Their information is accurate [to the best of my knowledge], and plentiful. I mostly work with the application of ASMR, but there is a whole lot more to ASMR than using it to gain sobriety or fall asleep, including the history and the science of it.
