Watch This ASMR - Don't Get Wasted
Do you know anyone that grinds their teeth in their sleep? For me, it’s been a lifelong problem. Not long ago, it was, that I had a mouth guard I wore to sleep…but when I brought it to Thailand it got really moldy, really fast, and I never bought another one. Okay…so I haven’t had a mouth guard in almost two years now, but! I should really get another one. Thanks for reminding me of that!
Massage therapy was birthed from the same corner of the world as the compass, gunpowder, papermaking, and printing: 中华人民共和国.
There’s quite a lot going on with today’s video of the day. First of all: this video has ASMR August practicing her craft on a real person. Does the individual laying on the table in this video receive Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response? I’m not sure, but I’m going to guess: no. Between 15-20% of the individuals I ask say that they have experienced ASMR, and I have asked over 1000 individuals this question. From the burliest of men, to the prettiest of ladies, I ask everyone and their momma: “Have you ever heard of ASMR?”
Does it matter if the individual upon the table in this video experiences ASMR? The answer is a hard no. Honestly, I think I’ve only been blessed with the sensation of ASMR one or two times this year, and I watch at least one ASMR video per day. I used to get it all the time. I used to receive an intense tingling when I visited both the real life, and the virtual eye doctor. These days I receive the tingling sensation associated with asmr few-and-far-between. However, over time ASMR has become part of my selfcare routine, even though I hardly ever get tingles. The video above with ASMR August has opened my eyes to a new faction of ASMR. I’ve never really gotten into ASMR collabs [which I mentioned the other day], and I’ve never really gotten into third-frame ASMR…which is a term I’m coining right now. To me, “real person ASMR” is too vague and doesn’t hook people in; it might scare people away. I’ve never been into real person ASMR, but now that I’m calling it third frame…
Seriously though, let’s get the beeswax out of the hive. This video is focused on addiction recovery, even if she doesn’t hammer-into the subject as hardcore as I do. August doesn’t seem to me to be an addict, but she probably knows a couple. Don’t we all?
An individual is considered to be an alcoholic if they drink more than 3 days in a row, or 4 times within a week. Does that surprise you? How many people do you know drink every night? How many people do you know drink Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? Probably more than you can count on one hand; maybe more than you can count on all your fingers and toes! I’m to understand that 10% of the people on planet earth will, at some point in their life, suffer from a debilitating addiction – be that an addiction to alcohol, hard drugs, unhealthy food/sugar, or that show My Strange Addiction [ironic that someone could be addicted to watching that show, but for someone on Earth, it is likely a reality]. I have no citation for backing up my 10% theory, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to addiction. Do you think 1 in 10 people will suffer from a debilitating addiction in their lifetimes? Word. And you know, personally, I think 100% of people are, at one point in their lifetime, addicted to something. Have you ever met anyone addicted to skydiving? I know two people addicted to skydiving. What about coffee? And addiction to coffee wouldn’t classify you into the 10% of individual with debilitating addictions. I wouldn’t even consider an addiction to cannabis to be a debilitating addiction, and writing about cannabis addiction is something I have begun to write more about. It’s a real thing; cannabis is addictive, and you should definitely believe me on that if you plan to start, or keep smoking it.
Comparing alcoholism to cannadiction is like…is like…oh jeez! It just can’t be compared. Alcohol and alcoholism is responsible for 5.3% of all deaths. Cannabis, although you shouldn’t get high and drive, is absolutely impossible to overdose on through oral consumption. You can beat someone to death with a bag of weed, and you can get high and kill yourself doing something dumb, but you can not smoke yourself to death. In fact, smoking cannabis might even improve lung function, but that’s not what we’re talking about.
What we’re talking about, is spending 28 minutes and 9 seconds watching the video above, and not consuming any alcohol or hard drugs during that time. That method is very literally how I began my fight against alcoholism. Feel like having a drink? Watch an ASMR Video! Feel like having a drink? Watch an ASMR Video! Back in 2013-2014 I would lay on my couch and watch ASMR for 8 to 12 hours in a row, because if I wasn’t doing that I would be doing whatever it took to get drunk or high [getting high on hard drugs – specifically heroin – predates alcohol use for me. Heroin did not cause even close to as many problems for me as alcohol did, and I believe this is because alcohol is cheap, and readily available. I’ve never walked into a grocery store and bought heroin. Not even once!]. I’ve done a lot of terrible things, from forging checks, to stealing from my friends and family. I’m kind of a scared human though, and I consistently chose to steal from individuals I knew personally rather than ambiguoius entities. Most of the alcoholics I knew stole liquor bottles from the store, but I stole liquor bottles from my friends and families houses. I was, and still am, scared of going to jail for theft. For individuals that are bold enough to commit theft from public entities that will call the police on them and subsequently sent them to jail, it’s sad that there is no help within the heavily-structured prison system [at least in America]. My friend Conner went to prison for 2 years for injecting himself with heroin. He didn’t kill, rape, or steal from anyone! He just selfishly got high! And they sent him to prison for TWO YEARS! He overdosed and died in a convenience store bathroom the day after he was released from prison. Could ASMR really have saved his life? I’d like to think that that is a possibility, yes. We will speak further on this tomorrow.
If you are reading this article, and it made an impact on you, I would really appreciate it if you reached out and let me know! I’ve been writing this blog for almost 7 months now, and I do not make any money, nor do I see a future where I will make money from writing this blog. Also, people are uncomfortable talking about addiction recovery, and so you probably don’t want me to know who you are haha. However, I am going through what I have recently determined to be ‘the second hardest struggle in my lifetime,’ which is opening a business [the hardest struggle was overcoming my alcoholism and addiction to hard drugs]. When I began this blog in April I thought forsure that I would be making money by now; Nope. Something you may or may not know, is that I have a very serious shoulder injury which prevents me from working any labor intensive jobs – which also happen to be the jobs that pay well, and are easy to get. I suppose I could get a job writing…but I haven’t managed to pull that one off yet. I do not ask for donations, although I do accept them if you reach out through the contact form, however if you are interested in supporting my writing, I have begun selling shirts to help support myself as a writer, and if you are an Asmrtist [located in America] you can make a 25% up to 50% commission by recommending anything in the asmr.community/shop. Read this article to learn more, and potentially sign up.
Not only do I print and sell shirts with the ASMR brand on them, I also tyedye and screenprint shirts for resale, with a minimum order size of 10, and no maximum order size. If the order is less than 500 shirts, you will have them at your doorstep in 10 days [if you are located in the continental United States]. You can check out twains.tyedye to learn more about custom orders for your business, ASMR channel, or maybe even your bachelorette party. For Asmrtists, I also offer print on demand services. Okay…that’s what I have to say about that today haha. I’ll check in with you again tomorrow. Have a beautiful Monday!

Everyday Sobriety Advice
I am a recovered alcoholic/drug addict, but I am not a qualified addiction counselor. To help other alcoholics/addicts achieve sobriety, I have created the mantra’s below. Although I call them “steps,” I believe that all four mantra’s should be recited in concurrence.
When the urge to drink alcohol or use drugs comes upon you, I suggest reciting these four steps, and then implementing an activity to “kill time” until your urge to use drugs/alcohol is less intense. I suggest you use ASMR videos to “kill time”
Good luck, My Friend
Below are the steps of admittance required for using The ASMR.Community Sobriety Program [ACSP] successfully.
Step 1: “Sobriety is a choice, and it is up to me to make the right choice.”
Step 2: “Not everybody will be able to achieve sobriety, but that knowledge does not prevent my success regarding sobriety.”
Step 3: “The urge to imbibe (substances that I know will prevent my success) is finite. Sometimes the urge will exist, sometimes the urge will not exist.”
Step 4: “Sobriety is not the same for everyone. Success is.”
I believe the steps I listed above are a complete, non-exclusionary list of all mental admissions needed to achieve your goals regarding sobriety.
Everybody’s definition of sobriety is different, but everybody’s definition of success is the same.

If you are looking or more information about ASMR, I’ve found the best place to learn about the subject is ASMR University. Their information is accurate [to the best of my knowledge], and plentiful. I mostly work with the application of ASMR, but there is a whole lot more to ASMR than using it to gain sobriety or fall asleep, including the history and the science of it.
